The Travellers electronic Safety System (TeSS) is aimed to serve the overseas traveller (in particular the 55+ age group and the student or gap year market).

TeSS mitigates the risk that a missing person event can escalate. It provides whereabouts and safety data (travel plans, destinations, accommodation etc) within minutes of a report being made to the authorities.

Customers are expected to include travel agencies, insurance firms, the individual and the parents of students.

Partnership discussions are underway with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the UK Police, as well as organisations from the insurance and travel industry.

The system has been designed with usability and security as key priorities.
