Software Development

The finance industry has increased its use of packaged solutions over recent years, and continues to do so for common business functions. However, there remain areas where banks need to adopt a bespoke approach, either to maintain a proprietary advantage or because there is no off-the-shelf solution that meets their requirements. In these situations Worldflow have developed bespoke solutions to meet the specific client requirements. We work directly with trading areas or operational departments to determine precise functional requirements and develop the required solution.
Regardless how much analysis carried out and documentation is produced, requirements always seem to change particularly when the software is finally demonstrated to the end users.
In order to ensure that what is actually required is delivered we employ an agile development approach. This enables us to minimise the risk by developing software in short iterations. Each lasting one to four weeks. This means that the client will see constant progress and have the opportunity to refine or prioritise their requirements. Our approach places emphasis on regular customer participation with users being given web-based access to all iterations of the software.
Whilst each iteration may not add enough functionality to warrant releasing the product it is like a small software project and includes all of the tasks necessary to release the new functionality: planning, analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation.
By using highly skilled and finance industry software engineers we are able to produce solutions in relatively short timescales. Where the client has clear and well understood requirements the contract is often executed on a fixed prices basis.
Ecommerce P&L
Analyse the Profit and Loss from an external e-commerce site by attributing formula based values to the traded products against time and quality of trade to attribute to desk by client.
Program Trading Flow Manager
Worldflow developed an application for a trading desk at a major US bank that allowed the desk to manage order flow from a variety of sources, execute across FIX and internal Trading platforms and deliver execution reports to their end-users.
Breaks Workflow Manager
For a major European bank Worldflow developed a fully functional workflow tool to allocate, track, age and clear front-office/back-office breaks. The system uploaded breaks from various reconciliations systems and provided auto allocation based on a series of rules and tracked progress, producing clearance stats and escalation
